Postcard Row Needlepoint Designers Bridget and Isabella

Bridget and Isabella met in Berkeley, CA when their husbands were both getting their MBAs at Cal (go bears!). They bonded over a love of reading, hosting dinner parties, crafting, musicals, Taylor Swift, and, to stitch it all together, needlepoint!

After both couples moved to San Francisco, the needlepoint hobby increased exponentially (as did the credit card charges for the canvases), and both Bridget and Isabella tried their hands at designing their own needlepoint canvases. San Francisco, and the West Coast more generally, felt distant from the bustling needlepointing communities in the South and East Coast, and in 2024, the two decided to expand needlepoint in the San Francisco Bay Area (and beyond) with the creation of Postcard Row.

The name is a reference to the famed Painted Ladies of San Francisco, which are sometimes referred to as “postcard row” for their frequent appearance on San Francisco postcards. Bridget & Isabella built Postcard Row out of converted Victorian houses just four blocks from each other and one mile from the historic Painted Ladies.

Postcard Row seeks to highlight the historical beauty and charm of a city that we love. While many see SF as a city of tech bros and urban decay, we see it as an intellectual, cosmopolitan, and chic city full of natural beauty and lots of play. Postcard Row is our way of bringing that to the world!

By sharing this collection of items we love with the world, our goal is to modernize needlepoint and bring friendship & creativity back to the tech-obsessed world we live in. We want to help people cut down on screen time with needlepoint canvases they actually want to stitch and to build a stitching community in San Francisco. We’re excited that you’re here!
